Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Construction Site Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a high-rise façade remediation project in Glasgow. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and quality driven delivery of all site activities, ensuring works are completed in accordance with programme requirements, statutory regulations, client expectations, and company standards.
This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record in managing complex construction projects, preferably involving façade remediation, cladding replacement, external envelope works, or high-rise developments.
Key ResponsibilitiesSite Management & Operations
- Manage the day-to-day running of the site and coordinate all construction activities.
- Ensure works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Supervise subcontractors, site operatives, and suppliers to ensure efficient project delivery.
- Coordinate site logistics, access arrangements, material deliveries, and workforce planning.
- Conduct regular site inspections and monitor progress against project milestones.
- Maintain a safe and organised working environment at all times.
Quality Assurance
- Implement and maintain project quality assurance procedures and inspection regimes to complete our Golden Thread.
- Ensure all works comply with project specifications, drawings, building regulations, and industry standards.
- Review and manage Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), quality records, and handover documentation.
- Identify defects, non conformances, and quality issues, ensuring corrective actions are implemented promptly.
- Carry out quality inspections and audits throughout the project lifecycle.
- Work closely with design teams, consultants, and client representatives to achieve required quality standards.
Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
- Enforce compliance with company Health & Safety policies and all relevant legislation.
- Conduct site inductions, toolbox talks, and safety briefings.
- Review risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) and ensure safe systems of work are followed.
- Monitor site safety performance and address any hazards or unsafe practices immediately.
- Promote a positive safety culture across the project team.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary site based point of contact for clients, residents, consultants, and subcontractors.
- Attend project meetings and provide regular progress updates.
- Assist in resolving technical, operational, and stakeholder issues as they arise.
- Ensure minimal disruption to building occupants and surrounding stakeholders during project delivery.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate site records, including daily diaries, progress reports, quality inspections, and safety documentation.
- Monitor programme performance and identify potential delays or risks.
- Report project progress, quality issues, and resource requirements to senior management.
- Support project handover activities and completion documentation.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience as a Site Manager on high-rise construction, façade remediation, cladding replacement, or external envelope projects.
- Strong understanding of construction quality assurance processes and documentation.
- Excellent knowledge of UK construction health and safety legislation.
- Experience managing subcontractors and multiple work fronts simultaneously.
- Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and site management software.
Qualifications
- SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) – Essential.
- CSCS Black or White Card – Essential.
- First Aid at Work – Essential.
- Relevant construction qualification (HNC/HND, NVQ Level 6 or equivalent) – Desirable.
- Temporary Works Coordinator qualification – Desirable.
- Scaffold Inspection qualification – Desirable.
