Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and energetic Yard Shunter/Loader to join our dynamic logistics team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for efficiently maneuvering and organizing trucks within the yard, ensuring smooth loading and unloading operations. Responsibilities
- Safely shunt and position trucks within the yard, ensuring proper placement for loading and unloading activities
- Operate commercial vehicles with precision, adhering to all safety protocols
- Assist with loading and unloading goods, utilizing appropriate equipment and techniques to handle various cargo types
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections, reporting any mechanical issues promptly to ensure vehicle safety and reliability
- Communicate effectively with warehouse staff, drivers, and supervisors to coordinate movements and delivery schedules
- Maintain accurate records of yard activities, vehicle movements, and cargo handling procedures
- Support delivery drivers by providing assistance during loading processes when needed
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial driving.
- Strong driving skills with a valid driver license or equivalent certification
- Previous experience as a delivery driver or in a warehouse environment is highly desirable
- Mechanical knowledge to perform basic vehicle inspections and troubleshoot minor issues
- Excellent communication skills for clear coordination with team members and drivers
- Ability to operate yard equipment safely and efficiently in a fast-paced setting
- Familiarity with safety regulations related to vehicle operation and cargo handling
