About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Trainee Accountant to join our growing accountancy practice. This opportunity is ideal for a school leaver, college student, recent graduate, or someone with a genuine interest in bookkeeping and accountancy who is looking to start a rewarding career in the profession.
The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience in bookkeeping, VAT, accounts preparation and client services while receiving support to study towards professional accounting qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with bookkeeping for a range of clients using cloud accounting software.
- Performing bank reconciliations and maintaining accurate accounting records.
- Assisting with the preparation and submission of VAT returns.
- Supporting the preparation of year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
- Liaising with clients to request information and resolve queries.
- Maintaining organised client files and records.
- Providing general administrative support to the accounting team.
- Undertaking training and professional development as required.
Person Specification
- Strong interest in bookkeeping, accounting and finance.
- Good numeracy skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- National 5 qualifications (or equivalent) including Mathematics and English.
