Part-Time Bookkeeper
BC&A Accounting Solutions – Swindon
25 hours per week | Monday to Friday | Permanent
£28,000–£35,000 FTE, pro rata depending on experience
About BC&A
BC&A Accounting Solutions is part of BC&A Group, an independent and growing accountancy practice supporting businesses across the South of England and beyond.
Our Swindon office works with a varied portfolio of businesses, providing accountancy, bookkeeping, payroll, tax and business support services.
Across the wider BC&A Group, we have a growing team of accounting and business professionals, with specialist services including accounts, tax, audit, R&D tax relief and corporate finance.
While we're continuing to grow, we place a lot of importance on maintaining a personal approach. We want our clients to know the people looking after them and our team to build genuine, long-term relationships with the businesses they support.
We're now looking for an experienced Part-Time Bookkeeper to become part of our Swindon team.
The role
This is a permanent position working 25 hours across Monday to Friday, primarily from our Swindon office.
You'll support our senior team while taking responsibility for the day-to-day bookkeeping requirements of a varied portfolio of clients.
We're looking for someone who enjoys more than just the numbers. You'll regularly communicate with clients, get to know their businesses and occasionally visit them at their premises.
For someone who enjoys working with people but wants the balance of part-time hours, this could be an excellent fit.
What you'll be doing
- Managing day-to-day bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients
- Maintaining accurate accounting records and ledgers
- Completing bank and account reconciliations
- Processing and reviewing financial information
- Supporting senior members of the team with client work
- Liaising directly with clients and responding to queries
- Working with Xero, Sage and other accounting software
- Using Rialtas, our specialist accounting software
- Occasionally visiting clients at their premises
Don't worry if you haven't used Rialtas before. Full training will be provided.
What we're looking for
We're looking for someone with solid bookkeeping experience gained within an accountancy practice or an industry finance environment.
You'll ideally be someone who is confident working independently but also enjoys being part of a team.
You'll need:
- AAT Level 3 as a minimum
- Previous hands-on bookkeeping experience
- Experience using Xero and/or Sage
- A strong understanding of bookkeeping principles
- Good attention to detail
- Confidence communicating directly with clients
- A friendly, outgoing and professional personality
- Good organisation and the ability to manage your own workload
- A willingness to get involved and support the wider team
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, as occasional client visits may be required
- To live within a reasonable commuting distance of our Swindon office
Previous experience within an accountancy practice would be advantageous, but we're equally interested in experienced bookkeepers coming from an industry finance environment.
What we offer
- 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- Permanent part-time position
- £28,000–£35,000 FTE, pro rata, depending on experience
- A varied portfolio of clients
- Regular client interaction
- Full training on Rialtas
- Support from an experienced senior team
- A friendly, professional working environment
- The opportunity to join a growing independent accountancy group
- A role where you'll be encouraged to build relationships rather than simply process transactions
Location
The position is based at our Swindon office, with occasional travel to client premises.
We would therefore ideally like to hear from candidates based in Swindon or the surrounding area.
