We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Welder/ Fabricator to support the safe and reliable operation of our paper manufacturing facility in Deeside.
This hands-on role will act as the site's welding and fabrication expert, carrying out planned, preventative and reactive maintenance across paper machines, stock preparation plants, site services, CHP systems and associated equipment. You will play a key role in maintaining plant reliability, responding to breakdowns, supporting continuous improvement projects and ensuring the highest standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out welding, fabrication, repair and maintenance activities across the site.
- Respond to mechanical breakdowns and support rapid fault resolution.
- Complete planned and preventative maintenance activities through the SAP maintenance system.
- Support plant upgrades, equipment improvements and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain workshop equipment, welding consumables and gas storage areas to high housekeeping standards.
- Supervise and coordinate contractors during shutdowns and maintenance activities.
- Assist with mechanical isolations, inspections and equipment overhauls.
- Support inventory management, spare parts control and maintenance planning.
- Work collaboratively with engineering, production and operational teams to maximise plant performance and reliability.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all site procedures and legislation.
What We're Looking For
- Proven welding and fabrication experience within a manufacturing, industrial or heavy engineering environment.
- Strong mechanical maintenance background.
- Experience of planned, preventative and reactive maintenance practices.
- Ability to read technical drawings and work to high engineering standards.
- Knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements within an industrial setting.
- Experience using CMMS systems such as SAP (desirable).
- Forklift and lifting equipment experience would be advantageous.
- Flexible approach to working hours, shutdowns and on-call requirements.
