Duty Manager

We are looking for an experienced and confident Duty Manager to join our team and contribute to the operations and successful delivery of events at Citation. This is a hands-on management role, taking a lead on the ground to oversee the team and ensure the seamless delivery of every event. You’ll be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of service and professionalism, ensuring an exceptional experience for every guest, client and colleague.
What You’ll Be Doing
· Taking responsibility for the smooth running of the venue during events, from pre-event setup through to close down
· Leading the team throughout service, ensuring colleagues understand their responsibilities and deliver to the required standards
· Working closely with the Front of House, Kitchen and Management teams to ensure seamless communication and service delivery
· Monitoring events throughout your shift, proactively identifying and resolving operational issues as they arise
· Acting as a senior point of contact for clients, guests, suppliers and colleagues during events
· Handling guest feedback professionally and effectively
· Ensuring all bars and event spaces are correctly set, and dressed to the required standard & supporting the smooth running of room changes and transitions
· Supporting the team in maximising sales opportunities across bar and table service
· Monitoring food and beverage service standards, ensuring service is delivered efficiently, professionally and consistently
· Ensuring opening, closing and cash handling procedures are followed accurately and consistently
· Monitoring stock levels and identifying shortages, discrepancies, wastage or operational issues, reporting these to the relevant manager
· Completing all required closing checks, reports and handovers
· Supporting with the training and development of staff
· Working collaboratively with all departments and supporting the wider management team
What We’re Looking For
· Previous experience as a Duty Manager, Assistant Manager or Supervisor
· Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, support and develop a team while leading from the front
· Excellent hospitality and customer service skills with a genuine passion for creating exceptional guest experiences
· Strong operational awareness and the ability to take ownership of a busy venue during service
· Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively in a busy hospitality environment
· Strong communication skills and the confidence to deal professionally with guests, clients, suppliers and colleagues at all levels
· High attention to detail, particularly around service standards, venue presentation and guest experience
· A strong understanding of food, beverage and hospitality service
· Experience leading teams during busy services and managing operational issues as they arise
· Good commercial awareness, including an understanding of sales, stock control and cost management
· Knowledge of licensing, health & safety and general compliance requirements
· Previous experience within weddings, events, functions or a high-volume hospitality environment is highly desirable
· Personal Licence Holder preferred, or willingness to obtain

Availability: Evening and weekend work is essential. Fully flexible candidates are preferred, particularly during peak event periods
