We are looking for support staff to join a friendly team in one of our local schools. Located in Exeter, the school provides crucial support to over 100 students with Special Educational Needs and those who require Social Emotional and Mental Health support. The school is a happy and safe place where pupils are encouraged and supported to achieve the goals that have been co-produced with the team around the child.
What does the role entail?
Working under the direction of the Class Teacher, supporting an individual or small group of learners with their learning. These individuals will have moderate or severe Special Educational Needs so there is an element of dealing with challenging behaviour in this position. Although the role can at times be challenging, it is extremely rewarding and there are also opportunities for training and development. Any strong candidates will be offered a permanent contract if successful at the school for an introductory period.
Working hours: Monday - Friday 8:30am-4.30pm, term time only.

Requirements:
- Knowledge of different special educational needs and strategies to support them
- Previous experience supporting people with SEN is advantageous but not essential
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to work effectively as part of a team
- Reliable and proactive - punctuality is key!
- Must be comfortable with personal care
- Resilience
