Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable, friendly and professional School Transport Driver to ensure the safe and timely transportation of students to and from school.
This role offers an opportunity to contribute positively to the community by providing a vital service for students and their families. The successful applicant will be responsible for operating school transport vehicles in accordance with safety regulations and organisational policies, ensuring a comfortable and secure journey for all passengers.
Working hours are flexible, as part of a wider team, to cover:
- Daily School runs - typically around 6.45am and 5pm Monday to Friday;
- Transporting School teams to compete with other schools - regionally and nationally - mainly within the school day;
- Transport for academic field trips and enrichment programmes;
- Transport for medical appointments and A&E visits
- Airport and Train transfers for our Boarding Pupils returning home or staying with guardians;
Flexibility and evening/weekend availability is needed for this role. Drivers can typically work between 16 -30 hours per week, from Monday to Sunday.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate school transport vehicles, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Pick up and drop off students at designated locations on scheduled routes.
- Communicate effectively with school staff, students, and parents regarding schedules or any issues that arise during transit.
- Ensure the safety of all passengers during transit by enforcing behaviour policies and managing emergency situations calmly.
- Assist students with boarding and alighting from the vehicle as needed, providing support for those with special needs.
- Maintain positive and professional relationships with pupils, families and Moreton Hall staff.
- To work in an effective, safe, flexible manner and support the ethos of Moreton Hall.
- To keep the vehicle in a clean and tidy manner at all times.
Qualifications & Experience
- Valid UK driving licence with no more than 6 penaly points.
- Mechanical knowledge or basic maintenance skills to perform routine vehicle checks.
- Minimum 2 years driving experience and the ability to druve various types of vehicles.
- Good knowledge of the local area
- Previous experience would be benficial, but is not essential as full training will be given.
Please note that this role involves driving vehicles covered by the School's fleet insurance. Under the terms of the School's current fleet insurance policy, only drivers aged 25 and over are eligible to drive these vehicles. As driving is an essential requirement of the role, applicants must be able to meet this requirement.
Pay: £12.71-£18.00 per hour
