- Saturday: 7:00am – 1:00pm
Beckenham Building Supplies Ltd is a busy, family-run builders merchant looking to recruit an experienced and customer-focused Sales Assistant / Trade Counter Assistant to join our growing team.
The successful candidate will have a good working knowledge of building materials and be confident serving both trade and retail customers in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Serving customers at the trade counter in a professional and friendly manner.
- Providing advice and product recommendations on a wide range of building materials.
- Processing sales and quotations using the company’s POS/computer system.
- Building and maintaining strong customer relationships.
- Promoting sales and identifying opportunities to increase revenue.
- Maintaining attractive and well-stocked product displays.
- Replenishing shelves and ensuring stock is correctly priced and labelled.
- Raising purchase orders and assisting with stock control.
- Working closely with yard and delivery staff to ensure efficient customer service.
- Assisting with general branch duties as required.
Product Knowledge Required
Applicants should have experience and knowledge of some or all of the following:
- General Building Materials
- Bricks and Blocks
- Cement, Aggregates and Landscaping Products
- Timber and Sheet Materials
- Paints and Decorating Supplies
- Hand and Power Tools
- Plumbing and Heating Products
- Electrical Supplies
- Fixings, Hardware and Ironmongery
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience working within a builders merchant or similar trade environment.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Good sales and relationship-building abilities.
- Computer literacy and experience using POS or sales order processing systems.
- Organised, reliable and able to work as part of a team.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Pay: £12.71-£17.00 per hour
