Job Summary
Experienced Motorhome & Caravan Service Advisor
Company Description
Thurton Auto Centre is a growing independent automotive and leisure vehicle service centre based on the A146 at Thurton, near Norwich.
Operating from our 15-bay, 1.5-acre site, our business incorporates dedicated Car & Van and Motorhome & Caravan Care operations, providing servicing, repairs, diagnostics, MOT testing and specialist leisure vehicle services.
Our Motorhome & Caravan Care division supports a rapidly growing customer base and provides everything from routine servicing and habitation checks through to diagnostics, repairs and specialist upgrades.
We are AWS and NCC Approved and continue to invest in our facilities, people, systems and services as the business grows.
We have ambitious plans for the future, and we are now looking for an experienced Motorhome & Caravan Service Advisor who wants to become an important part of that growth.
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site position at Thurton Auto Centre.
The Service Advisor will take ownership of the customer journey within our Motorhome & Caravan Care operation, acting as the key link between our customers, technicians, parts department and workshop management.
Communication is absolutely fundamental to this position.
Our customers need to know what is happening with their vehicle, what we have found, what it will cost and when they can expect the work to be completed.
You will therefore be expected to proactively manage customers rather than simply react to incoming telephone calls and enquiries.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing customer enquiries by telephone, email and face-to-face
- Booking motorhomes, campervans and caravans into the workshop
- Understanding customers’ requirements and accurately recording reported faults
- Preparing and following up estimates and quotations
- Explaining technical findings and recommended work clearly to customers
- Obtaining customer authorisation for additional work
- Proactively keeping customers updated throughout their vehicle’s time with us
- Liaising closely with technicians, workshop management and the parts department
- Managing workshop schedules and helping maintain an efficient flow of work
- Ensuring outstanding quotations and customer enquiries are actively followed up
- Preparing accurate job documentation and invoices
- Maintaining accurate customer and vehicle records
- Identifying future maintenance requirements and helping customers plan ahead
- Ensuring every customer receives a professional, knowledgeable and consistent experience
Who We’re Looking For
This is not an entry-level Service Advisor position.
Due to the current growth of the business, we need somebody who can join us and make an immediate contribution.
Previous relevant industry experience is therefore essential.
We would particularly like to hear from candidates currently working, or who have previously worked, within:
- Motorhome or caravan dealerships
- Motorhome or caravan service centres
- Automotive main dealerships
- Independent automotive service centres
- Commercial vehicle or specialist vehicle operations
Experience within the motorhome and caravan industry would be a significant advantage.
You should have:
- Proven Service Advisor or Aftersales experience
- Excellent customer communication skills
- Strong organisational and time-management ability
- Confidence managing a busy and varied workload
- Good technical understanding of vehicle servicing and repairs
- The ability to explain technical information clearly to customers
- Experience preparing and following up quotations
- Strong IT and administration skills
- A proactive approach to customer communication
- Excellent attention to detail
- The ability to work closely with technicians and workshop management
- A genuine sense of ownership and accountability
- A full UK driving licence
Knowledge of motorhome habitation systems, LPG, electrical systems, water systems, heating, solar, lithium batteries and leisure vehicle accessories would be advantageous, although we recognise that even experienced candidates may require training in some specialist areas.
Why Join Thurton Auto Centre?
This isn’t simply about filling another Service Advisor position.
We are building a much larger operation and want people who can grow with the business.
You’ll be joining an independent company where good ideas can be acted upon, decisions can be made quickly and experienced people are trusted to take ownership of their responsibilities.
We offer:
- A modern and expanding 15-bay automotive and leisure vehicle facility
- An established and rapidly growing customer base
- AWS and NCC Approved operations
- A varied role working with motorhomes, campervans and caravans
- Investment in systems, equipment and facilities
- A supportive workshop and management team
- Genuine opportunities for increased responsibility as the business develops
- A long-term career opportunity within an ambitious independent business
Above everything else, we’re looking for somebody who understands that great customer service isn’t just about being friendly at reception — it’s about taking ownership, communicating and doing what you said you were going to do.
If that sounds like the way you work, we’d like to hear from you.
