Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and organised Retail Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, maintaining store presentation, and supporting sales through effective merchandising and upselling techniques. Fluency in English is essential, with additional language skills such as Spanish or other multilingual capabilities considered advantageous. The Retail Assistant will play a key role in ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience and that store operations run smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and assist with their enquiries in a professional manner
- Maintain the visual presentation of the store through effective merchandising
- Support sales by upselling products and promoting special offers
- Handle transactions accurately using the point-of-sale system, ensuring proper phone etiquette during customer interactions
- Organise stock levels, restock shelves, and ensure the store remains tidy and inviting
- Provide product information to customers, highlighting features and benefits to enhance their shopping experience
- Assist in organising promotional displays and seasonal decorations
- Manage time effectively to ensure all tasks are completed within scheduled shifts
- Collaborate with team members to achieve sales targets and maintain high standards of customer service
Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills in English; proficiency in Spanish or other languages is desirable
- Basic maths skills for handling transactions and stock counts
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Good time management skills to prioritise tasks effectively
- Experience in retail or merchandising is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided
- Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service and utilise phone etiquette effectively
- Friendly attitude with a proactive approach to upselling and assisting customers
