What do the team do?
The Tax department works with clients across a broad spectrum, from high net worth individuals through to large corporates and not-for-profit entities. We have an international presence and provide both compliance and advisory services to a diverse client base.
Within our Tax department we have an established team of VAT specialists who deliver a broad range of advisory and compliance services. Working closely with colleagues across Audit, Outsourcing, Corporate Finance and other Tax disciplines, the team supports clients operating in sectors including property and construction, professional and financial services, charities, academies and education providers, manufacturing, e-commerce, international trade, healthcare and telecommunications.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing VAT team where you'll work on a wide variety of technically challenging assignments while developing your expertise and helping shape the future growth of the service line.
What will I be doing?
As a VAT Manager / Senior Manager, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality advice and supporting the continued growth of our VAT offering. Your responsibilities will include:
Managing and delivering a range of VAT advisory projects across a varied client portfolio.
Acting as a trusted adviser to clients, identifying VAT opportunities, risks and practical solutions.
Undertaking technical research and producing clear, commercially focused VAT advice and reports.
Supporting clients with HMRC enquiries, compliance checks and disclosures.
Reviewing work prepared by junior team members and providing technical guidance.
Coaching, mentoring and developing less experienced colleagues.
Building and maintaining strong client relationships and identifying opportunities to provide additional support.
Contributing to business development activities, networking opportunities and the growth of the VAT team.
What experience do I need?
Whilst having the following experience is advantageous, we value passion and potential. If you meet the minimum criteria listed below and are eager to develop yourself, we would love to hear from you:
Significant VAT experience gained within a UK accountancy practice or specialist VAT environment (minimum criteria).
Strong technical VAT knowledge with the ability to identify issues, assess risks and communicate practical solutions (minimum criteria).
Experience managing client relationships and delivering a high-quality client experience.
Experience reviewing work and supporting the development of junior colleagues.
CTA qualified, part-qualified or qualified by experience will be considered.
Commercial awareness and an interest in supporting business development initiatives.
A genuine passion for VAT and staying up to date with legislative and technical developments.
Applies a forward-thinking approach to technology, leveraging automation and AI to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
