Astha's is a new British style café influenced with north Indian flavours serving delicious breakfast, brunch and lunch menu offering British influenced traditional yet unique Northern India’s food all day. Nestled in Belgrave gardens St John’s Wood. At Astha’s you’ll always find the food rich in flavours yet soaked in traditions.
The elegant 30+ seater café (including outside area) will be open from mid-May for breakfast and lunch all week, with plans underway to open in the evening autumn'26.
We are looking for capable, reliable and energetic Barista with minimum 1 year relevant experience. You’ll be serving exceptional coffees to drinks in a vibrant quality driven environment.

Core Responsibilities:
- Artisanal Coffee Production: Prepare and serve a variety of high-quality coffee beverages including espresso-based drinks, specialty pours, and cold brews—to exact, consistent standards.
- Elevated Guest Service: Greet guests, explain complex tasting notes, origins, and brewing methods, and provide personalized recommendations in a refined, professional manner.
- Technical Mastery: Expertly operate, calibrate, and maintain high-end, manual espresso machines and grinders.
- Beverage Pairings: Work alongside sommeliers or chefs to create coffee pairings for desserts or tasting menus.
- Operational Excellence: Maintain spotless, organized, and hygienic workstations, adhering strictly to food safety and 5-star standards.
- Inventory & Quality Control: Monitor stock levels of premium beans, milk, and pastries; manage waste reduction and assist with ordering
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: Previous experience as a barista in a high-volume, premium, or luxury hospitality setting is typically required.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of espresso extraction, milk texturing, and latte art.
- Passion for Food and Specialty Coffee: Knowledge of coffee origins, processing methods, and roasting profiles.
- Attention to Detail: Commitment to consistency in taste, presentation, and service.
- Professionalism: Exceptional communication skills and a well-groomed, professional demeanour.
- Composure: Ability to maintain high standards while working under pressure.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and procedures.
- Experience in serving customers in a fast-paced environment.
- Good time management skills to handle multiple orders efficiently during peak hours.
- Basic maths skills for handling cash transactions accurately.
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly attitude and professional demeanour. Duties
- Prepare and serve a variety of hot and beverages, including cocktails, spirits, and non-alcoholic drinks, in accordance with established recipes and standards.
- Greet guests warmly and take drink orders accurately while providing excellent customer service.
- Ensure the bar area is clean, organised, and stocked with necessary supplies at all times.
- Handle cash transactions efficiently and responsibly, maintaining accurate records of sales.
- Maintain knowledge of menu offerings, daily specials, and relevant food safety regulations.
- Monitor guest behaviour to promote responsible drinking and ensure compliance with licensing laws.
- Collaborate with team members to deliver a seamless service experience during busy periods.
- Uphold health and safety standards by adhering to hygiene protocols and food safety guidelines.
Experience
- Previous experience in a hospitality setting, particularly within a bar or restaurant environment, is preferred but not essential as training will be provided.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and responsible alcohol service is advantageous.
- Strong serving skills combined with excellent time management are essential for managing multiple orders efficiently during peak hours.
- Basic maths skills are required for handling payments accurately.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment demonstrates the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- A friendly personality with good communication skills is vital for engaging with guests professionally.
