Street Scene & Waste Operative – Grade C (Manual Labour)
Hours: 37 Hours Per Week, Mon – Fri, 09:00 – 17:00
Contract: 4-Week Temporary Contract (Seasonal)
Location: Household Waste Recycling Centre, (HWRC), Chelson Meadow, The Ride, Plymstock, Plymouth, Devon, PL9 7JT
We're recruiting 12 Street Scene & Waste Operatives to support Council's Street Services team. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone reliable, hardworking, and confident working outdoors in a manual labour environment.
About the Role:
As a Street Scene & Waste Operative, you'll assist teams with grass cutting and general grounds maintenance across the city, helping to keep public spaces safe, clean, and well-presented.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Carrying out grass cutting and grounds maintenance duties
- Supporting street scene and waste services with manual labour tasks
- Using tools and equipment safely and effectively
- Ensuring health and safety standards are followed at all times
- Working independently and as part of a team to meet daily targets
What We're Looking For:
We're looking for someone reliable, proactive, and comfortable with physical outdoor work. You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience in grounds maintenance or manual labour
- Good attention to detail and a strong work ethic
- Ability to use gardening tools and equipment safely
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- A full UK driving licence (preferred but not essential)
- Two to three years' references/work history
- A professional approach and ability to work as part of a team
