Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm
Contract: Fixed-term (approximately 8 months), with the possibility of extension
A lovely, welcoming family based in Islington are seeking an experienced, nurturing and development-focused nanny to care for their baby son, who was born at 26 weeks' gestation.
Now four months old (approximately six weeks corrected age), he has made wonderful progress following a challenging start to life. He continues to receive support from the Community Neonatal Team and is currently receiving some feeds via a feeding tube following a recent bout of illness, although this is expected to be temporary.
This is not a medical role. The family are looking for a nanny or maternity nanny with previous experience caring for premature babies who understands corrected age, appreciates the importance of early developmental support and can confidently work alongside the family's healthcare professionals, along with general nanny duties.
The family also have a happy two-year-old daughter who attends nursery full-time. The role will focus solely on the care of their baby son.
The family currently have the support of a night nanny, which has been invaluable, and are now looking for someone to continue supporting their little boy's progress during the day.
The Role:
The successful candidate will:
Provide warm, responsive and attentive one-to-one care throughout the day.
Create and maintain a consistent daily routine appropriate to the baby's corrected age.
Plan engaging, age-appropriate activities that encourage sensory, cognitive, physical and emotional development.
Monitor developmental milestones and adapt activities as the baby grows.
Keep detailed daily records of feeds, sleep, nappies and developmental observations for his parents and healthcare team.
Work collaboratively with the parents, following any guidance or recommendations from the neonatal support team.
Support bottle-feeding routines and confidently follow established feeding plans.
Be mindful of the baby's increased susceptibility to illness and take appropriate precautions when out and about, while still supporting safe outings and age-appropriate experiences.
Maintain a calm, organised nursery environment and undertake all nursery duties relating to the baby.

Has significant experience caring for newborns and young infants.
Has previous experience caring for premature babies or NICU graduates.
Has an excellent understanding of corrected (adjusted) age and developmental milestones.
Is passionate about supporting babies through their earliest stages of development.
Is confident planning engaging developmental activities tailored to the individual child.
Is organised, observant and confident keeping detailed developmental records.
Communicates professionally with both parents and healthcare professionals.
Is calm, patient, nurturing and proactive.
Is comfortable working in a home with a friendly British Bulldog and is genuinely dog-friendly.

Candidate Requirements:
* Minimum of 5 years' professional nanny experience, with strong newborn and infant experience.
* Previous experience caring for premature babies or infants who have spent time in a NICU is highly desirable.
* A good understanding of corrected (adjusted) age and early childhood development, with the ability to plan age-appropriate routines and activities.
* Confident monitoring developmental milestones and keeping accurate records of feeds, sleep, nappies and developmental progress.
* Comfortable working collaboratively with parents and following guidance from healthcare professionals where appropriate.
* Warm, nurturing, patient and responsive approach to childcare.
* Reliable, organised and proactive, with excellent communication skills.
* Dog-friendly.
