We are looking for a Laundry Assistant to join our care home team, helping to ensure clothing, towels and bedding are clean, fresh and available when needed for the people we care for. As a Laundry Assistant, you will be responsible for the day-to-day laundry requirements of the care home. You will ensure residents' personal clothing, bedding, towels and other laundry items are washed, dried, folded and stored appropriately.
You will work as part of the wider care home team and help maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and infection control.
Key responsibilities
Sort, wash, dry, fold and store residents' clothing and household laundry.
Ensure residents' personal clothing and belongings are handled carefully and respectfully.
Label and organise laundry to help prevent items from becoming misplaced.
Operate washing machines, dryers and other laundry equipment safely.
Follow appropriate washing instructions and care labels.
Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene within the laundry area.
Follow infection prevention and control procedures.
Report any damaged, missing or unidentifiable items to the appropriate member of staff.
Maintain adequate supplies of clean linen and towels.
Work collaboratively with care and housekeeping colleagues.
Follow all relevant health and safety procedures and care home policies.
Respect residents' privacy, dignity and personal belongings at all times.

Essential
Previous experience in a laundry, housekeeping, cleaning, hospitality or similar role is desirable.
Good attention to detail and the ability to work in an organised manner.
Reliable, punctual and able to work as part of a team.
Able to follow instructions, procedures and health and safety requirements.
Able to handle residents' personal belongings with care and respect.
Good understanding of cleanliness and hygiene standards.
Physically able to undertake the duties associated with the role, including standing for periods and handling laundry.
A caring, respectful and professional attitude towards elderly and vulnerable residents.
Good communication skills.
Existing right to work in the UK – sponsorship is not available for this role.
Desirable
Previous experience working within a care home or healthcare environment.
Knowledge of infection prevention and control procedures.
Experience using commercial washing machines and dryers.
Understanding of COSHH and safe handling of cleaning/laundry products.
Previous experience working with residents or vulnerable adults.
