Accounts Assistant
Location: Bedford (with regular travel to St. Neots and Huntingdon)

Are you looking to develop your career in accountancy within a supportive and growing practice?
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Accounts Assistant to join our well-established and highly regarded accountancy practice. Based primarily in Bedford, the role will involve regular travel to our offices in St. Neots and Huntingdon, giving you exposure to a varied client base and a wide range of accounting work.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is studying towards, or has already achieved, their AAT qualification and is looking to build a long-term career within a professional practice environment.
Working closely with experienced accountants and advisers, you will be involved in bookkeeping, accounts preparation, VAT returns and supporting clients with their day-to-day accounting requirements. We are looking for someone who enjoys taking responsibility, is keen to learn, and can work independently whilst contributing positively to a friendly team environment.
What We're Looking For
We would love to hear from candidates who:
- Have a minimum of two years' experience working within a small accountancy practice. Please note that applications from candidates whose experience is solely within industry or commercial finance roles will not be considered.
- Are studying towards, or have completed, an AAT qualification.
- Have practical experience using QuickBooks Online, Xero and Dext, with experience of Sage being advantageous.
- Possess strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Are self-motivated and able to manage their workload effectively.
- Have a professional and client-focused approach.
- Are keen to develop their knowledge and progress their career within an accountancy practice.
