Senior Management Accountant

Job Purpose
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Management Accountant to join our finance team for an international group of 8 companies. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering accurate and timely financial information to support business decision-making. This role involves producing management accounts, assisting with budgeting and forecasting, cashflow controls and working closely with stakeholders across the business to improve financial outcomes.
The ideal candidate will be AAT qualified or part-qualified accountant with strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues an external partners.
Key Responsibilities
Management Reporting
- Prepare monthly management accounts within agreed deadlines.
- Produce profit and loss and balance sheet.
- Prepare and post month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments, depreciation and deferred revenue.
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate any variances.
- Produce monthly revenue forecasts to the CFO, CEO and VP of Sales
- Reporting to VP of Sales the weekly sales statistics
- Monthly commission calculations for sales staff.
- Monthly reporting to our airport and port partners.
- Daily and Weekly cash meetings with collections and sales teams.
Treasury and Cash
- Daily and Weekly cash meetings with collections and sales teams.
- Drafting collection letters to clients and calculation late payment charges.
- Review of monthly payment run and approval of bank payments
- Adding new beneficiaries to banking systems and setting up payment templates.
Budgeting and Forecasting
- Support the annual budgeting process.
- Assist in preparing periodic financial forecasts.
- Monitor expenditure against budgets and provide meaningful analysis.
Business Partnering
- Build positive working relationships with managers across the organisation and external partners.
- Assist non-finance stakeholders and partner in understanding financial reports and performance.
Financial Controls and Compliance
- Review of monthly payment run and approval of bank payments
- Adding new beneficiaries to banking systems and setting up payment templates.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Assist with year-end accounts preparation and external audit requirements.
- Ensure financial controls and procedures are followed consistently.
- Support continuous improvements to finance processes and reporting.
- Liaising with external accountants in the US, Europe, Mexico, Costa Rica and Colombia to ensure compliance.
Team Support
- Management of junior finance team in AR and AP.
- Contribute to a collaborative and high-performing finance function.
Person Specification
Essential
- AAT qualified with significant experience and or ACCA/CIMA Studier
- Experience preparing monthly management accounts.
- Excellent Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience using finance or ERP systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Desirable
- Experience supporting external audits.
- Knowledge of US GAAP, EU IFRS and international trade
- Experience improving finance processes or reporting.
- Experience working with multi currencies and intercompany trading
