Teaching Assistant Needed – Supporting a Child with Visual Impairment

Now Education are proud to be working closely with a welcoming school in Small Heath to recruit a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support a child with visual impairment, and additional learning needs.

About the Role
You will provide one-to-one support, helping the child access learning and develop confidence, independence, and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one classroom support
- Adapt learning materials to meet individual needs
- Use sensory approaches such as touch and sound
- Support communication using Braille and Makaton
- Encourage independence and social development
- Work closely with teachers and the child’s family
- Support personal care when required
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
- Has experience working with children with autism, visual impairment, or SEND
- Has knowledge of Braille and/or Makaton (preferred)
- Is patient, caring, and reliable
- Has strong communication skills
- Is willing to learn and develop new skills
