Senior Health & Safety Consultant
About the Role
We're looking for an experienced Senior Health & Safety Consultant to join our growing consultancy. This is a senior appointment with real ownership, combining site work across Leinster, Connacht and Ulster (the vast majority in Dublin) with technical documentation and review work from our office.
You'll be the technical anchor of our delivery team. As well as carrying out audits and advising clients directly, you'll take ownership of the quality of our documentation, reviewing and producing site-specific RAMS, Construction Stage Health & Safety Plans, Safety Statements and Preliminary Health & Safety Plans, and acting as PSDP and PSCS on client projects.
We're a small, tight team with a clear plan, and this role is central to it. If you want scope to shape how a consultancy delivers rather than just working through a caseload, this will suit you.
Key Responsibilities
✔ Produce and review site-specific RAMS, Construction Stage Health & Safety Plans, Preliminary Health & Safety Plans and Safety Statements, and take ownership of documentation quality across the team.
✔ Act as PSDP and PSCS Coordinator on client projects, providing guidance and oversight through design and construction stages.
✔ Carry out site inspection audits across client sites, primarily in the Dublin area.
✔ Lead accident and incident investigations, producing clear findings and practical corrective actions.
✔ Develop and audit client Safety Management Systems.
✔ Advise clients on legislative requirements and act as their senior point of contact on health and safety matters.
✔ Support and mentor the wider consultancy team on technical and documentation standards.
What You Need
✅ Qualifications: Degree or Diploma in Health & Safety, or NEBOSH.
✅ Experience: Minimum five years in construction health and safety, with demonstrable experience producing and reviewing site-specific documentation.
✅ PSDP and PSCS: Practical experience acting in these roles under Irish construction regulations is essential.
✅ Accident investigation: Proven experience leading investigations and reporting on findings.
✅ Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of Irish health and safety legislation and its practical application on live construction sites.
✅ Skills: First class people skills. You'll be dealing directly with site managers, directors and subcontractors, and you need to be able to hold your ground and be liked doing it.
✅ IT competency: Confident with Microsoft Suite and comfortable working in common data environments.
✅ Certifications: Train the Trainer beneficial.
✅ Licence: Full driving licence.
Location: You must be based within commuting distance of our office in Crossmaglen, County Armagh, as this role combines site work with office-based presence.
