Full time Warehouse Assistant needed at Southern Foam, Rusper, nr Horsham.
We are looking for hard working individuals, interested in learning the process of cutting down blocks of foam into shapes and sizes according to customer needs. Working from conversion to delivery, we have a team of staff operating a number of different roles to ensure customer satisfaction.
Initially, the majority of this role involves clearing all production waste (when the foam is cut, there will be offcuts that need recycling) and disposing of it in a baler. Other responsibilities will include the cleanliness of the yard outside and ensuring safety standards are applied for customers and employees.
As performance and commitment to the work is demonstrated, we would see the role develop, taking on a variety of jobs to include:
- Accurately labelling and packaging foam in preparation for deliveries;
- Fitting covers to foam in accordance with customer orders;
- Roll packing foam ready for packaging and despatch;
- Gluing foam products to make bespoke items and attaching stockinette where required;
- Loading and unloading vans;
- Day to day housekeeping; maintaining the tidiness and cleanliness of the factory and the yard outside;
- And in time, learning the process of cutting down blocks of foam to specific size, with the use of industrial bandsaws and other heavy machinery.
Given the nature of this job, we are looking for candidates with:
- Ideally someone who has worked in a factory before;
- Has a hands-on approach to their work, someone who is happy working on their feet all day, carrying heavy materials in a safe manner;
- A focused approach and keen eye for detail;
- A positive attitude to sometimes repetitive and mundane work;
- The ability to carry out tasks independently then work as part of a team as required;
- Experience of working within a fast-paced warehouse environment;
- A motivated, hard working approach to work with a can-do attitude, happy to muck-in with all manner of tasks;
- Effective communication skills, along with basic numeracy and literacy are fundamental, as is a high level of common sense, integrity, and honesty.
Core hours are 08.00 – 17.00, Monday – Thursday and 08.00 – 15.00, Friday with a 45 minute break for lunch (paid). There may also be overtime opportunities at the weekend.
Candidates must have their own transportation given the location of the factory (there is no public transport able to reach our site). A car park for employees is on site.
