A wedding venue situated in a National Trust parkland in south London is looking for an experienced Gardener. As successful candidate, you will be fully responsible for the maintenance of the gardens and grounds.
Essential qualities of the candidates should include:
- Minimum, of a Level 2 Diploma in Horticulture RHS or City and Guilds.
- Experience with Garden Machinery, to include ride on lawn mowers, pedestrian controlled lawn mowers, chippers and small handheld petrol tools, to include hedge cutters and leaf blowers.
- Have experience in working in large private estates and private domestic gardens at a high-end level also.
- Very good plant knowledge.
- Have a clear understanding of pest and disease, particularly regarding the maintenance of topiary and historic parterre maintenance.
- Ability to work well with others, guide and oversee seasonal gardening helpers and non-permanent garden personnel with help in the grounds.
- Have a enthusiasm and passion for Horticulture.
- Have the drive, focus and vision to design and develop the gardens over time.
- Be organised and focused, have a good eye and attention to detail.
- Very good communication skills, ensuring good and regular communication with, in - house staff, Venue Manager and venue staff, particularly regarding the use and aesthetics of the site, on wedding and event days.
- Ability to manage tool chemical inventories, maintenance schedules, plant ordering.
- Have a good understanding of health and safety in Estates.
Desired qualities of the candidates should include:
- Experience with planting combination, and minor planting scheme planning.
- Have a clear understanding of Herbaceous and flowering plants and excellent plant knowledge. (Plant ident test/ walk upon interview).
- Project management skills, understanding of how to plan, and execute Horticultural installations, and have an experience with overseeing your own projects from start to finish.
- Good understanding of Horticultural industry suppliers.
- Chainsaw Licence
- Understanding of principles of permaculture, and sustainable Horticultural practices.
- Composting Management, on a larger estate scale.
What we are offering
We are offering a salary of up to 31K to 32.5K with 28 days holiday per annum. We also offer training and development opportunities to all employees as required.
Pay: £31,000.00-£32,500.00 per year
