An Exciting Deputy Manager Opportunity in Newport
An excellent opportunity is available for an experienced Deputy Manager to join a new Children's Residential Home in Newport, Shropshire, supporting children and young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).
Offering £16.00–£16.50 per hour plus £50 per sleep-in, this position is ideal for an established Deputy Manager or an experienced Team Leader / Senior Support Worker who is ready to progress into management.
As part of a new service, you will have the opportunity to help shape the culture of the home, support the development of the staff team and play an important role in delivering a safe, stable and nurturing environment for young people.
The Role
Working closely with the Registered Manager, you will support the effective day-to-day running of the home and provide strong leadership to the residential care team.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day management of the home.
- Lead, motivate and support the residential staff team.
- Lead shifts and ensure effective handovers.
- Maintain excellent safeguarding and child-centred practice.
- Support staff supervision, development and performance.
- Ensure care plans, risk assessments and records are maintained accurately.
- Support compliance with Ofsted requirements and Children's Homes Regulations.
- Build positive relationships with young people, families and external professionals.
- Support young people with EBD to achieve positive outcomes.
- Help establish a positive and consistent culture within the new home.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience within an Ofsted-regulated Children's Residential Home.
- Experience at Deputy Manager, Team Leader or Senior Support Worker level.
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent.
- Experience supporting children and young people with EBD.
- Good understanding of safeguarding and Children's Homes Regulations.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to support, motivate and develop a residential care team.
- Level 5 Leadership & Management, or working towards it, would be advantageous.
