Vehicle Prep Assistant – LCV

SMC Commercials is looking for a reliable and hardworking Vehicle Prep Assistant to join our Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) team, working directly beneath and supporting our Vehicle Prep Manager.
This is a hands-on role focused on ensuring vehicles are properly checked, prepared and presented to the required standard before customer handover. The successful candidate will have a good eye for detail, a practical approach and the ability to follow a structured vehicle preparation process.
Key Responsibilities
- Working closely with and reporting to the Vehicle Prep Manager
- Carrying out vehicle preparation checks on incoming and outgoing LCVs
- Checking vehicles for visible damage, missing items, warning lights and general condition
- Ensuring preparation work has been completed correctly before vehicles are released
- Preparing light commercial vehicles ready for customer handover
- Cleaning and presenting vehicle interiors and exteriors where required
- Removing stickers, protective coverings and transport materials
- Fitting number plates and completing minor preparation tasks
- Reporting any defects, damage or outstanding work to the Vehicle Prep Manager
- Moving vehicles safely around the site
- Helping to organise vehicles through the preparation process
- Ensuring vehicles are completed to SMC Commercials' required presentation standards
- Keeping the vehicle preparation area clean, organised and safe
- Supporting the wider LCV team when required

- Ability to follow instructions and work closely with the Vehicle Prep Manager
- Comfortable working independently as well as part of a busy team
- Previous experience within vehicle preparation, valeting, automotive or commercial vehicles would be beneficial
- A full UK driving licence is required
