COMMERCIAL SALES MANAGER
Tired of corporate sales?
Tired of endless Teams calls.
Tired of layered approvals.
Tired of watching good opportunities die in committee.
Do you know you can grow accounts, win new business and drive serious revenue — but feel stuck inside a corporate machine where getting something approved takes longer than actually doing it?
We might be exactly what you’re looking for.
Grant Foods is an ambitious, independent Scottish food manufacturer with more than 100 years of heritage — and we’re entering a serious growth phase.
We’re looking for an experienced, commercially sharp Sales Manager who wants freedom, responsibility and the opportunity to make a genuine impact.
This is not a corporate role.
This is not a maintenance role.
This is a build-and-grow role.
The Opportunity
You’ll take real ownership of our sales growth across:
- Retail — branded and own label
- Foodservice and wholesale
- Distributors
- Export markets
- New product launches and commercial opportunities
You’ll work directly with senior leadership.
No unnecessary layers.
No waiting three weeks for a decision.
No hiding behind another department.
You’ll have the freedom to pursue opportunities — and the accountability to deliver them.
We want someone who sees opportunities others miss.
Someone who can walk into a buyer meeting with confidence, understand the numbers behind the deal and know when to push, when to negotiate and when to walk away.
Someone commercially ambitious, strategically intelligent and hungry to build.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Driving profitable revenue growth
- Winning new national and regional accounts
- Developing and expanding key existing customers
- Identifying new channels, markets and commercial opportunities
- Negotiating pricing, contracts and trading agreements
- Protecting and improving margin
- Analysing customer and sales performance and turning insight into action
- Building and maintaining a structured sales pipeline
- Producing clear, realistic sales forecasts
- Supporting successful new product launches
- Working closely with production, technical and operations to ensure growth is achievable, profitable and sustainable
You won’t simply inherit a customer list and maintain it.
We want you to grow it.
Who This Role Is For
You might currently be:
- A National Account Manager in FMCG who is frustrated by corporate red tape
- A Business Development Manager ready for greater responsibility
- A senior sales professional who knows they’re capable of more but doesn’t have the autonomy to prove it
- A commercially driven operator who thrives when given ownership
Whatever your current title, we care far more about what you can deliver.
You’ll need to be:
- Confident and credible in front of buyers
- Commercially sharp
- Comfortable working with pricing, margin and commercial models
- An excellent negotiator
- Relentless with follow-up
- Naturally proactive
- Strategically minded but action-oriented
- Resilient when deals don’t go your way
- Comfortable being measured against results
- Excited by responsibility rather than intimidated by it
Who This Role Is NOT For
This probably isn’t the role for you if you:
- Want a quiet maintenance position
- Need constant direction before taking action
- Prefer process over progress
- Are uncomfortable with your performance being visible
- Wait for opportunities rather than creating them
- Blame difficult market conditions rather than finding a way to adapt
There are easier sales jobs out there.
That’s not what we’re offering.
What We Offer
In return, you’ll get something that can be difficult to find in larger organisations:
Freedom to actually do your job.
Alongside:
- Genuine commercial autonomy
- Direct access to the people making the decisions
- The ability to influence and shape sales strategy
- Performance-linked reward
- The opportunity to develop new customers, channels and markets
- A business undergoing significant digital transformation
- A company focused on sustainable, profitable growth
- The opportunity to build something and see the direct impact of your work
