Overview
Hugh Simpson (Contractors) Ltd. is the largest crane hire and heavy lifting services company based in Caithness. A post has arisen for a HSEQ Manager to join our team on a full time basis.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining HSEQ management system to ensure legal and other requirements including ISO are adapted throughout the policies, instructions, processes, and procedures.
- Liaise with clients and other external parties to complete their pre- qualification requirements, update them on insurance arrangements, certifications, major changes.
- Carry out internal audits on processes/ services to ensure they are managed according to the set requirements. Lead external audits (client and ISO certification body audits), report to management.
- Organize required safety inspections, coordinate implementation of identified action, monitor emergency preparedness equipment (fire extinguishers, first aid kits, fire alarms etc), electrical equipment & fixed wiring inspection and servicing dates etc.
- Assess workplaces, tasks, and operations to identify hazards, persons who can be harmed, existing and additional controls. Develop safe systems of work and method statements where required to ensure safety and compliance.
- Onboarding new staff, maintaining personnel competency records, organize refresher training and up skilling as and when required.
- Ensure any outsourced services (subcontractors, suppliers) are assessed and able to provide a quality service.
- Investigate disciplinary, grievance, safety, environmental incidents to establish cause and identify preventative action.
- Liaise with other departments and process owners in promoting positive standards, reporting to the top management, and identifying continuous improvement opportunities.
Experience
- Proven experience in health, safety, environmental management, or quality assurance roles within a similar industry setting.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, standards (such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001), and best practices in HSEQ management.
- Demonstrated ability to lead audits, investigations, and training initiatives effectively.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills to engage effectively with staff at all levels as well as external regulatory bodies.
