Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and creative Assistant Kidswear Designer to join our London office and collaborate with our Istanbul-based head office. A Girlswear multi-product designer with strong jersey experience is a key requirement. Experience with Boyswear would be great, but not essential. This is a unique opportunity for a talented designer to play a pivotal role in shaping our product lines and ensuring that we continue to deliver exciting and fashion-forward collections to our diverse customer base at pace.
Key Responsibilities:
- Designing: Assist with creating new design concepts daily and collate these to present to the senior designer for review. Researching, developing, and designing ranges for the customer, including identifying key shapes, colour, fabric for the season which offers choice for our global customer base.
- Assisting: Assist the Kidswear team with creating detailed cards and tech-packs for supplier use. Sort and log samples, swatches and fabrics in an organised manner. Create and regularly update CRM per season.
- Market Research: Stay informed about current and future fashion trends and customer preferences in the UK market, translating insights into innovative design concepts. Create trend boards and provide trend forecast regularly, highlighting key styles and design details.
- Product Development: Building relations with suppliers and advising factories on direction, key details, fabrics, and trims. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including production, merchandising, and sourcing, to ensure the efficient development and production of designs.
- Quality Control: Oversee the development of prototypes and samples, ensuring that the final products meet the highest quality standards. Working with the technical team on initial fits when necessary and adjusting accordingly.
- Communication: Support in clear and effective communication with the head office in Istanbul, providing updates, design proposals, track developments and implementing design adjustments.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in fashion design, with a strong portfolio showcasing Girlswear capability.
- In-depth knowledge of the UK Kids wears market and an understanding of value-driven fashion as well as mid-market high street fashion.
- Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and CAD.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with international teams.
- Degree in Fashion Design or related field is preferred.
- Experience in working with Near Shore, Turkey is highly desirable.
