Destitute Animal Shelter is looking for a dedicated and experienced Dog Behaviourist to join our team and play a vital role in improving the lives of rescue dogs.
Your role will include:
- Working closely with our red dogs to support their rehabilitation and training needs
- Conducting behavioural assessments and intake assessments for dogs entering our care
- Creating and implementing individual behaviour and training plans
- Training and supporting staff and volunteers in dog behaviour, handling and enrichment
- Assisting with matching dogs to suitable adopters and providing behavioural guidance before and after rehoming
- Visiting adopters in their homes to offer advice, support and training where required
- Supporting members of the public who are considering surrendering their dog due to behavioural issues and providing guidance to help keep dogs in their homes where possible
- Helping to improve the welfare and quality of life of every dog in our care
We are looking for someone with:
- Experience working with dogs and behavioural training
- Knowledge of positive reinforcement training methods
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- A calm, resilient and professional approach
- A strong commitment to animal welfare
- A full UK manual driving licence
