We're looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join our growing Data team on a 9-month fixed term contract. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the evolution of our data platform while supporting key business initiatives across multiple value streams.
As part of a matrix-managed Data function, you'll work closely with technical and business stakeholders to deliver data solutions that support operational, analytical and strategic decision-making. A key focus of the role will be supporting our transition from Matillion to a modern Data Engineering framework built on Snowflake, dbt and Apache Airflow.
This is an ideal opportunity for a hands-on Data Engineer who enjoys solving complex data challenges, building scalable solutions and working within a modern cloud-based data environment.
In the role of Senior Data Engineer, you will:
- Designing, developing and maintaining robust data pipelines and data transformation processes.
- Developing SQL-based solutions within our Snowflake data platform.
- Supporting the migration of existing Matillion workflows to dbt and Apache Airflow.
- Building and optimising ELT processes to improve efficiency, scalability and data quality.
- Working with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Supporting reporting, analytics and data delivery requirements across the organisation.
- Troubleshooting data issues and identifying opportunities for process improvement.
- Contributing to the ongoing development of our future-state data architecture and engineering standards.
You will be an experienced Data Engineer with a strong track record of designing, building and optimising data solutions within complex enterprise environments. Bringing proven expertise across data engineering best practices, you'll be confident working with large-scale datasets, developing robust data pipelines and delivering high-quality data products that support business outcomes.
- Proven experience in a Data Engineer, Data Engineering Analyst or similar role.
- Strong SQL development skills and experience working with relational databases.
- Experience with Snowflake, Oracle, SQL Server or similar enterprise database technologies.
- Experience designing, developing and supporting ETL/ELT data pipelines.
- Hands-on experience with dbt and/or Apache Airflow.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and best practices.
- Experience working within cloud-based data environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience migrating data solutions from legacy ETL tools into modern cloud platforms.
- Knowledge of Matillion.
- Experience working with Amazon S3 and cloud-based data ecosystems.
- Financial Services, Wealth Management or Investment Management experience.
- Knowledge of investment products and financial data domains.
- Experience working within Agile delivery teams.
- Exposure to modern DataOps, CI/CD or data platform transformation initiatives.
