Haringey is a fantastic place to live and work – the world in one borough. A place brimming with creativity, personality, radicalism, and community. It is a place where we stand up for each other. A place that is proudly distinctive. We’ll be celebrating all this and more as the “rebel borough” when we are the 2027 London Borough of Culture.
Our history champions change-makers and everyday rebels; revelling in our differences, battling discrimination, championing equality, and doing things our own way. Haringey’s people are a huge asset, with knowledge, expertise, and passion. Our staff members embody our organisational values: Caring, Creative, Courageous, Collaborative and Community-focused. These values keep us looking forward, ambitious for the future, and continuously striving to do our very best for all of our residents.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Team Manager to support the leadership and operational management of our Reablement Service within Adult Social Care.
Working closely with the Service Manager, you will help lead a multidisciplinary team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Rehabilitation Assistants, and Reablement Support Staff to deliver high-quality, person-centred interventions that promote independence and improve outcomes for residents.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced practitioner or aspiring leader to contribute to the development of a dynamic, therapy-led reablement service. You will provide day-to-day leadership, oversee complex cases, support effective decision-making, and promote best practice in rehabilitation, reablement, and strengths-based approaches.
You will bring a strong understanding of the Care Act 2014 and the role of reablement within the wider statutory framework. This includes promoting wellbeing, maximising independence, preventing and reducing care and support needs, and supporting timely, proportionate assessment and intervention.
The role also includes supporting staff development and performance, ensuring high standards of practice, and working collaboratively with health and social care partners to deliver coordinated, person-centred support that helps residents remain independent at home.
Haringey’s Reablement Service is a therapy-led Adult Social Care service that combines rehabilitation, enabling care, and therapeutic interventions to help residents achieve their optimum level of independence.
We work with adults recovering from illness, injury, hospital admission, or a decline in their functional abilities. Through short-term, outcome-focused interventions, we support residents to regain confidence, rebuild essential daily living skills, and achieve goals that matter to them.
Using a strengths-based and person-centred approach, we work alongside residents, families, carers, and partner organisations to promote independence, prevent unnecessary hospital admissions and long-term care placements, and support timely hospital discharge.
In this role, you will work closely with health colleagues across community rehabilitation, acute hospitals, primary care, and the voluntary sector, helping to deliver integrated care and achieve the best possible outcomes for residents.
You will be an experienced professional with a strong understanding of Adult Social Care, rehabilitation or reablement services and a passion for helping people maximise their independence. You’ll bring experience of leading or supervising teams and will be confident providing professional support, managing performance and driving excellent service delivery.
We’re looking for someone who can:
- Lead and motivate multidisciplinary teams to achieve positive outcomes for residents.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to strengths-based, person-centred practice.
- Apply knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Adult Social Care legislation, and safeguarding responsibilities to support effective decision-making and service delivery.
- Make sound decisions and manage risk effectively within complex cases.
- Analyse performance information and use data to drive service improvements.
- Build effective working relationships with colleagues, health partners and wider stakeholders.
- Promote integrated working across health and social care services.
- Manage competing priorities whilst maintaining high standards and meeting service targets
At Haringey Council we are committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included, and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits of a diverse workforce so welcome applications from all ethnicities and communities so that we continue to make a difference to our residents and community.
Our benefits package includes a leave entitlement up to 31 days + bank holidays, potential hybrid working opportunities, health and well-being support, a generous local government pension scheme and a range of discount schemes across leisure and culture that provide both financial and money-saving discounts.
