Llanwern High School are looking to recruit a second Deputy Headteacher, adding to the current
structure of one Headteacher, one Deputy Headteacher, one Senior Assistant Headteacher (DSP,
ALNCo) and 4 Assistant Headteachers.
This is a crucial time for the school in its ambition to achieve consistent high standards in key
priorities. The school has received recognition for improvement, laying the foundations for the next
stage of progression. Attendance is improving; pupil exclusions and sanctions have reduced
significantly and key curriculum and teaching strategies have been implemented to enhance the
learning experiences of all pupils. We are now seeking the right candidate to support us in achieving
the next steps; where all pupils are challenged and supported to make effective progress.
The Role
The Deputy Headteacher will:
1. Be the strategic lead for Wellbeing, Care, Support & Guidance, ensuring that:
- there is an embedded culture of safeguarding in all aspects of school life
- all pupils are nurtured and supported to grow and develop as effective learners
- the school’s approach to pupil engagement, attendance and inclusion are strategic and impact?driven
2. Set the culture for sustained improvement, ensuring that:
- self-evaluation is forensic, honest and well communicated
- improvement planning is sharp, pacey and impact-driven
- learner outcomes are improved through measurable gains in classroom practice

You will be:
