Babysitter / Personal Care Assistant Required
Hours: Flexible, mainly a few hours at a time on an as-needed basis - NOT REGULAR HOURS
I am looking for a reliable, caring, and trustworthy person to provide a combination of childcare support and light personal care assistance.
My regular support person is going away to university, so I am looking for someone to take over the role. Applications are welcome from experienced carers, childcare professionals, students, or anyone with relevant experience and the right attitude.
This job is an at home based setting not a work environment so the person will have to be a good fit for the family.
The Role
Most support will be for a few hours at a time on an ad-hoc basis. There may also be an opportunity for a longer live-in placement of approximately 5 days while my partner is away or the occasional overnight
For the live-in placement, food along with accommodation will be provided in a private spare room. There will be plenty of downtime when support is not required, and you will be free to leave the property for short periods when appropriate only with caring duties not babysitting duties.
Overnight from 22:00 - 08:00 will be paid at a standard set rate of £40 as it will be extremely unlikely you will be needed in this time
Childcare Duties
- Assisting with feeding and mealtimes
- Helping with dressing
- Supporting bedtime routines
- General supervision and assistance
This is predominantly not a sole-charge childcare role. I will be present and involved, and you will be assisting rather than taking full responsibility for the child.
There maybe times when it is possible you will be sole responsible for the child but this will be discussed at the time
Personal Care and Support Duties
- Supervising and accompanying me while walking to help prevent falls
- Occasional assistance getting up from the sofa or similar seated positions
- Providing light day-to-day support as required
- Offering reassurance and supervision when needed
About You
- Reliable and dependable
- Kind, patient, and understanding
- Comfortable around children
- Comfortable around pets
- Able to provide light mobility support
- Previous childcare, care, support worker, or personal assistant experience is desirable but not essential
