This is a self-employed, task-based driving opportunity operating an approved electric van supplied by Skylight, with no separate vehicle rental charge. Planned service blocks, weekly payments and full operational training are provided.
The Role – Electric Van Driver: E-Bike & Scooter Logistics
We are looking for reliable, physically capable and safety-conscious van drivers to support a major shared e-bike and e-scooter operation across Birmingham and the wider West Midlands.
This is not parcel delivery.
You will use a mobile app to complete a mixture of vehicle retrieval, deployment, repositioning and battery-swap tasks.
Our van team will operate through planned full-day service blocks, mainly during nights and early mornings.
Please note: this is a physical role involving regular heavy lifting, loading and unloading of e-bikes and e-scooters.
Task-Based Service FeesRetrieval Tasks
Collect damaged, unavailable or maintenance-mode vehicles and return them to the designated operating base.
- £2.50 + 20% VAT = £3.00 INC VAT per verified completed retrieval task
Deployment Tasks
Collect operational vehicles from the designated operating base and place them at approved parking locations.
- £1.00 + 20% VAT = £1.20 INC VAT per verified completed deployment task
Move Tasks
Collect vehicles from unsuitable or oversupplied locations and reposition them at approved parking locations.
- £1.50 + 20% VAT = £1.80 INC VAT per verified completed move task
Battery-Swap Tasks
Replace depleted batteries with fully charged batteries where required.
- £2.00 + 20% VAT = £2.40 INC VAT per verified completed battery-swap task
Average Full-Day Earnings
Based on completing a productive mixture of retrieval, deployment, move and battery-swap tasks during a full-day service block:
- £120–£180 + 20% VAT = £144–£216 INC VAT per day
- Higher earnings may be achievable when additional task volume is available
- Payments are made weekly following task verification
- No separate vehicle rental fee is charged
Earnings are based on the number and mixture of tasks correctly completed and verified through the operational app.

Requirements for the Van Driver
- Full valid UK driving licence that meets our insurer’s requirements
- Right to work in the UK
- Registered or able to register as self-employed
- UTR or registered business status before starting
- Smartphone with reliable mobile data, GPS and location services
- Comfortable using mobile apps and navigation systems
- Physically capable of regular manual handling and heavy lifting
- Able to safely load and unload heavy e-bikes and e-scooters
- Comfortable using approved ramps and vehicle restraints
- Comfortable working outdoors during nights and early mornings
- Able to pass the required identity, driving-licence and background checks
- Reliable, punctual and confident working independently
- Good communication and basic app-navigation skills
Previous van-driving, recovery, logistics or delivery experience is advantageous but not essential.
Responsibilities for the Van Driver
- Retrieve damaged or unavailable e-bikes and e-scooters
- Return retrieved vehicles to the designated operating base
- Deploy operational vehicles to approved parking locations
- Move and reposition vehicles between designated locations
- Complete battery-swap tasks where required
- Use approved ramps and safe manual-handling techniques
- Load and unload vehicles carefully
- Secure all bikes, scooters, batteries and equipment using the correct restraints
- Never overload the van or transport unsecured vehicles
- Complete all scans, photographs and task confirmations accurately through the app
- Follow the correct parking and dropspot instructions
- Complete basic visual safety checks
- Report damaged, broken or missing vehicles
- Return batteries, vehicles and issued equipment as instructed
- Follow all battery, PPE, road-safety, loading and operational procedures
- Keep the supplied electric van clean, secure and appropriately charged
- Report accidents, vehicle damage, app failures and operational problems immediately
