Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Service Manager to oversee the daily operations of our workshop. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring exceptional customer service, managing a team of technicians, overseeing parts inventory and availability, and maintaining high standards of quality, efficiency, and workshop productivity. Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operation of the service department, ensuring the timely completion of all service and repair work.
- Manage the day-to-day activities of the workshop, allocating work effectively to technicians and monitoring productivity, quality, and efficiency.
- Oversee parts management, including stock control, ordering, inventory accuracy, and ensuring parts availability to support workshop operations.
- Implement and maintain effective upselling strategies to maximise revenue opportunities.
- Ensure all mechanical procedures are performed accurately and in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and safety standards.
- Handle customer enquiries, complaints, and feedback professionally and efficiently.
- Monitor job progress, communicate updates to customers, and ensure agreed deadlines are met.
- Manage cash handling processes accurately during transactions.
- Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations across all the site.
Experience
- Proven experience in a supervisory or managerial role within a customer-focused automotive service environment.
- Strong mechanical knowledge and an understanding of workshop operations.
- Experience managing parts inventory, stock control, and supplier ordering processes.
- Demonstrable experience in workshop planning, job allocation, and technician performance management.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle difficult situations diplomatically.
- Experience in upselling products or services effectively to maximise revenue.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads whilst maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
