Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Shop Assistant/Cook to join our team. This role involves assisting with food preparation and cooking, ensuring smooth kitchen operations, and providing excellent service to our customers. The ideal candidate will have a passion for culinary arts, experience in food safety, and a friendly, professional attitude. This position offers an opportunity to develop culinary skills within a supportive environment.
Duties
- Prepare and cook a variety of meals according to established recipes and standards
- Assist in food preparation, including chopping, mixing, and assembling ingredients
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in compliance with food safety regulations
- Serve food to customers efficiently and courteously
- Ensure all food is stored correctly and rotation procedures are followed
- Monitor stock levels and notify management when supplies need replenishing
- Follow health and safety guidelines at all times during food handling and service
- Assist with general shop duties such as cleaning, organising displays, and customer service as required
Qualifications
- Previous experience in food preparation or cooking is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate
- Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Experience working in a restaurant or catering environment is advantageous
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively
- Excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanour
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility to work shifts including weekends if required

Pay: £12.21-£14.00 per hour
