We are looking to recruit a Missing from Home Caseworker to complete Return Home Interviews throughout Staffordshire, and for Staffordshire children placed out of the county. If you are passionate about giving vulnerable young people a voice and helping to keep them safe, we would love to hear from you.
About the role
As a Missing from Home Caseworker you will engage directly with children and young people who have been reported missing, carrying out timely Return Home Interviews and using what you learn to help prevent future missing episodes. It is a varied, community-based role that combines direct work with young people, close partnership working, and high-quality reporting.
What you'll be doing
- Engage with a Staffordshire young person or child who has been reported missing and found by Staffordshire Police (or by the relevant county force where placed) to conduct a Return Home Interview within specified timescales and statutory guidelines.
- Within the Return Home Interview, capture the voice of the child, identify vulnerabilities and the “push and pull” factors that contributed to the missing episode, and work with the young person and other services to prevent future incidents.
- Produce timely, professional and accurate detailed reports to be shared with Children's Social Care, the Police and relevant professionals.
- Develop and sustain productive working relationships with agencies to ensure regular and appropriate referrals are received.
- Complete all required monitoring information to set timescales, supporting feedback reports to funders and stakeholders and tracking progress against outcome targets, KPIs and more.
What we're looking for
✓ An enhanced DBS and substantial, evidenced experience of working directly with vulnerable young people, their families and partner agencies.
✓ Excellent IT skills, with the ability to produce detailed reports – confident using Word and Excel.
✓ Strong organisation – able to prioritise work and manage your time effectively.
✓ The ability to work independently and flexibly, with experience of remote working.
✓ A car owner with business insurance, prepared to travel within Staffordshire and surrounding counties.
Pay: From £16.00 per hour
