Learning Mentor – Secondary School – Birkenhead
Full-Time Role | September Start | Until October Half Term
Excell Supply are recruiting a dedicated and inspiring Learning Mentor to join a supportive secondary school in Birkenhead on a full-time basis from September until October half term.
This rewarding role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people, building positive relationships, and helping students overcome barriers to learning. As a Learning Mentor, you will play a vital role in improving engagement, confidence, attendance, and academic progress.
The Role
As a Learning Mentor, you will:
- Provide one-to-one and small group mentoring support to students.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with young people.
- Support students who may face social, emotional, behavioural, or academic challenges.
- Help students develop confidence, resilience, and motivation towards learning.
- Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and parents to support student progress.
- Monitor attendance, behaviour, and engagement, implementing strategies to encourage positive outcomes.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
What We're Looking For
- Experience working with young people in education, youth work, mentoring, coaching, care, or support settings.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.
- The ability to motivate and engage students from a range of backgrounds.
- Excellent relationship-building skills.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
