About the Role
Lakes Aquarium is looking for enthusiastic and reliable Seasonal Catering Assistants to join our team throughout the main visitor season.
Based at the beautiful Lakeside on the shores of Windermere, this role is primarily focused on supporting our busy catering operation, helping to provide a great food and service experience for visitors. While the majority of your duties will be within our café and catering areas, there may also be opportunities to assist other departments across the attraction during peak periods.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, takes pride in delivering excellent customer service and has experience in catering, hospitality, or food preparation.
What You'll Do
As a Seasonal Catering Assistant, you'll play an important role in ensuring our visitors enjoy a positive experience. Duties will primarily include:
- Preparing and serving food and drinks in our catering outlets
- Providing friendly, efficient customer service
- Handling food safely and following hygiene standards at all times
- Assisting with kitchen tasks, including food preparation and basic cooking
- Washing pots, pans, utensils, and maintaining a clean kitchen environment
- Clearing and cleaning tables to ensure a welcoming dining area
- Restocking supplies and supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the café
- Helping maintain clean, safe, and well-presented visitor areas
- Providing support in other areas of the attraction when required
No two days are the same and flexibility is key during busy visitor periods.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in a kitchen, café, catering, hospitality, or food service environment
- Knowledge of food hygiene and safe food handling practices
- A positive, friendly attitude and excellent customer service skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy, fast-paced environment
- A willingness to support colleagues and help wherever needed
- Reliability and flexibility, particularly during weekends, school holidays and peak visitor periods
Food Hygiene certification would be advantageous but is not essential, as training can be provided.

Pay: £10.85-£12.71 per hour
