The Opportunity

We are a busy, British Standard Approved Accident Repair Centre holding an exceptional regional reputation for delivering the absolute highest standards of workmanship. Due to continued growth and an increasing volume of modern, high-specification vehicle repair contracts, we are looking to recruit an experienced Strip Fitter (MET Technician) to join our skilled workshop team.

The Role
As a core member of our accident repair team, you will be responsible for the meticulous disassembly and reassembly of modern vehicles involved in collisions, ensuring every vehicle is restored flawlessly to strict manufacturer standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Component Removal & Refitting: Systematically remove and refit complex mechanical, electrical, and trim (MET) components, including suspension parts, cooling systems, modules, wiring looms, panels, and interior trim.
- Diagnostic Assessment: Identify, log, and report any hidden or secondary vehicle damage discovered during the strip-down phase to the estimating team.
- Manufacturer Compliance: Strictly follow manufacturer repair methods, technical diagrams, and diagnostic guidelines to ensure structural integrity and ADAS safety compliance.
- Quality Control: Maintain an exceptional eye for detail, ensuring zero rattles, flawless panel alignments, and pristine trim fitting prior to vehicle handover.
- Efficiency & Safety: Work effectively within a fast-paced body shop team, meeting build schedules while adhering strictly to workshop health and safety protocols.
Requirements
Qualifications (Highly Preferred):
- Level 3 ATA / NVQ in Mechanical Electrical Trim (MET) or Bodyshop Repair.
- Or City & Guilds Level 3 in MET / Automotive Repair.
- Experienced, time-served technicians without formal qualifications but with an elite track record will also be highly considered.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Be fully competent working on modern, complex vehicles (including hybrid and electric vehicle systems).
- Demonstrate excellent attention to detail and take genuine pride in producing high-end, safe workmanship.
- Possess strong communication skills to collaborate smoothly with panel beaters, spray painters, and workshop management.
- Hold a full UK Driving Licence to safely move vehicles around the repair centre.
