Mechanical Fitter
£28,000–£32,000 | Monday to Friday | Peterborough
I'm looking for a Mechanical Fitter to join a well-established engineering business in Peterborough, working on the build and assembly of specialist industrial machinery.
This isn't a role where you'll be standing on a production line doing the same job all day! You'll be working with a variety of mechanical components, building machinery from engineering drawings, using your practical skills to solve problems and seeing the finished equipment come together in front of you.
Your day-to-day work will include:
- Mechanical fitting and assembly of industrial machinery
- Working from engineering drawings and specifications
- Using hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Fitting bearings, shafts, gearboxes, motors, pumps and other mechanical components
- Building machinery and sub-assemblies from individual components
- Carrying out adjustments, alignment and basic fault finding
- Supporting testing and commissioning of completed machinery
- Modifying or improving components where required
- Working closely with other fitters, fabricators, welders and engineers
- Maintaining high standards of quality, accuracy and housekeeping
- Working safely and following company procedures
You might currently be working as a:
Mechanical Fitter | Mechanical Assembler | Production Fitter | Machine Builder | Mechanical Technician | Maintenance Fitter
Ideally, you'll have:
- Previous experience in mechanical fitting, assembly or machine building
- The ability to read and work from engineering drawings
- Good mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills
- Experience using workshop tools and equipment
- A good understanding of mechanical components and machinery
- The ability to work accurately and pay attention to detail
- A positive, can-do attitude
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
