We are proud of our reputation for quality, safety and investing in our people and are now looking for a reliable, organised and hardworking Driver & Yard Operative to support our operational teams.
This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same. You will be responsible for driving company vans and tippers, whilst towing plant and machinery on trailers, carrying out yard duties, preparing plant, pipe, fittings and equipment for operational teams, completing vehicle and machinery checks, managing stock, collecting and returning hired and company-owned plant, equipment and delivering plant and equipment to sites around the UK (Predominantly within the North East, with occasional travel elsewhere in the UK). The role also requires the use of the company's digital operational management system, Ctrl Hub.

Main Responsibilities
- Prepare Equipment for Site teams: Preparing plant, pipe and fittings and equipment for site teams, so they have everything needed to do the job each morning
- Yard Management: Manage the yard, including stock control and keeping clean and organised storage areas.
- Vehicle Care: Carry out vehicle checks and ensure company vehicles and trailers are maintained in a clean, roadworthy condition.
- Loading and Unloading: Load and unload vehicles with products for delivery and incoming supplier materials.
- Site deliveries/collection: Driving to various locations and suppliers around the UK. (Predominantly within the North East). Always representing PWG Connections professionally.
- Inventory Management: Keep track of stock locations and record keeping, while reporting any discrepancies or issues.
- Administration: Complete all documentation accurately and on time to ensure full traceability of plant, equipment and vehicles.
- Waste Management: Manage recyclable and general waste to maintain a safe, clean and efficient working environment.
- Safety First: Adhere to all health and safety regulations on-site and off-site.
This role requires excellent communication and organisational skills. The role involves regular lifting and moving of plant, fittings and materials, therefore applicants should be comfortable undertaking manual handling activities. You should be proactive, enthusiastic, and willing to learn about the multi-utility construction industry. As the role starts from our Ashington depot each day, you must be able to travel there for a 7:00am start. The successful candidate will be trusted to manage company assets, maintain accurate stock records and ensure materials, plant and equipment are prepared and available to support our operational teams.
Qualifications
· Basic Maths and English essential.
Working Week
41.25 hours per week. Monday to Friday – 7am-4pm (15-min morning break and 30-minute lunch break)
Essential
- Full UK Driving Licence – applicants must meet the Company’s insurance requirements
- Able to travel to the Ashington depot for a start at 7:00 am start
- Reliable and punctual
- Good level of physical fitness and willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
