The Role – Retail Sales Consultant
We are looking for a Retail Sales Consultant / Showroom Sales Advisor with a passion for interiors and a talent for consultative selling.
You’ll work on the shop floor delivering a high-end customer experience, advising on lighting, furniture, and interiors, and guiding customers through both design choices and technical specifications.
This is an ideal role for someone with experience in premium retail sales such as lighting, fabrics, furniture, kitchens, bathrooms, tiles, flooring, or home décor.
Key Responsibilities
✅ Deliver exceptional customer service from initial enquiry through to purchase and aftercare
✅ Provide expert product advice on lighting, wallpaper, furniture, and interiors
✅ Use consultative sales techniques to understand customer needs and close sales confidently
✅ Handle technical queries (lighting specifications, IP ratings, bulb types, fabric composition, measurements)
✅ Prepare quotes, sales orders, and proposals using internal systems
✅ Liaise with suppliers regarding stock availability, lead times, and special orders
✅ Maintain accurate stock records, pricing, and product information
✅ Support visual merchandising and showroom presentation
✅ Assist with stock handling, deliveries, and organisation
Skills & Experience
✔ Proven experience in retail sales / showroom sales / customer service, ideally in premium or luxury retail
✔ Background in interiors, lighting, furniture, homeware, or design-led retail highly desirable
✔ Strong consultative selling and relationship-building skills
✔ Confident handling technical product details
✔ Excellent communication and written skills
✔ High attention to detail and accuracy (measurements, specifications, orders)
✔ Comfortable using Microsoft Excel, Word, and retail systems / CRM / supplier portals
✔ Proactive, hands-on approach with a willingness to support all showroom operations

Working Hours
- Minimum 30 hours per week (4–5 days)
- Includes weekends and Bank Holidays (rota basis)
- Flexibility required during busy retail periods
