About The Health Suite
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, compassionate and proactive Primary Care & Women’s Health Nurse to join our growing multidisciplinary team at The Health Suite.
The Health Suite is a CQC-registered private medical and wellness clinic based in Thurnby, Leicester. We provide outpatient care for both adults and children, bringing together GPs, medical consultants, nurses, allied health professionals and complementary practitioners within one integrated clinical setting.
As our services continue to expand, there may also be an opportunity to work across a second Leicester site in the future.
Our opening hours are:
- Monday–Wednesday: 8:00am–8:00pm
- Thursday: 9:00am–7:00pm
- Friday: 9:00am–4:00pm
- Saturday: 8:30am–4:30pm
We are therefore looking for someone who can offer a degree of flexibility across these opening hours. Occasional additional clinic cover may also be required outside our usual hours.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced registered nurse who is confident working autonomously while also enjoying being part of a wider multidisciplinary team.
This is a varied primary care role with the opportunity to work across general practice nursing, preventative health, chronic disease management, vaccinations, diagnostics and women’s health.
Women’s health experience and procedural competency are essential requirements for this role. Candidates must already be appropriately trained and competent in cervical screening, IUD/IUS insertion and removal, and contraceptive implant insertion and removal.
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, organised and clinically confident, with excellent communication skills and the ability to use their own initiative.
We are particularly interested in someone who enjoys developing services, takes ownership of delegated areas of clinical work and is comfortable working independently within their professional scope of practice.
Essential Criteria
- Current NMC registration as an Adult/General Nurse
- Minimum of two years’ post-registration nursing experience
- Experience within primary care, general practice or a relevant community setting
- Ability to work confidently and autonomously within professional scope of practice
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Strong commitment to high-quality, patient-centred care
- Knowledge of current nursing standards, clinical guidance and evidence-based practice
- Good IT skills and confidence using electronic patient record systems
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to demonstrate initiative and take responsibility for delegated clinical areas
- Willingness to learn and develop within an innovative and expanding clinical environment
- Full driving licence and access to a car
Essential Clinical Skillset
We are looking for a nurse with a broad primary care skillset, including:
- Adult phlebotomy
- ECG recording
- Travel health and vaccination experience, including adults and children
- Immunisation delivery and vaccine management
- Wound assessment and wound care
- Diabetes monitoring and management, including patients receiving oral and injectable therapies
- Chronic disease monitoring and management
- Health checks, screening and preventative health assessments
Essential Women’s Health Skills
Candidates must be appropriately trained and competent in:
- Cervical screening / smear testing
- IUD/IUS (coil) insertion
- IUD/IUS (coil) removal
- Contraceptive implant insertion
- Contraceptive implant removal
- Contraception and family planning consultations
Experience within a dedicated women’s health, contraception, family planning or sexual health service would be highly advantageous.
Additional / Desirable Skills
Additional experience in any of the following would be advantageous:
- IV cannulation
- Paediatric phlebotomy
- Spirometry
- Sexual health clinics and STI screening
- Assisting with minor surgical procedures
- Experience within private healthcare
- Experience developing or leading nurse-led clinics
Current adult and paediatric BLS/first aid training is preferred, although we can support the right candidate with appropriate training where required.
Clinical Governance and Administrative Responsibilities
As part of the role, you will contribute to the safe and effective running of our clinical services.
Responsibilities may include:
- Processing and managing laboratory samples requested by GPs and consultants
- Liaising with laboratories and following up outstanding results
- Supporting the management and appropriate escalation of clinical results
- Maintaining vaccine stock and cold-chain monitoring and records
- Medication and clinical stock monitoring
- Maintaining appropriate levels of clinical consumables
- Supporting medication monitoring processes
- Participating in clinical audit and quality improvement
- Maintaining accurate clinical documentation
- Supporting the development of clinical protocols and nurse-led services
- Providing clinical administrative support where required
