Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Diabetes Specialist Nurse to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing specialised care and education to patients managing diabetes. Duties
- Deliver comprehensive patient care tailored to individuals with diabetes, including assessment, monitoring, and ongoing support
- Administer medications and insulin injections accurately, ensuring adherence to prescribed treatment protocols
- Educate patients on diabetes management, lifestyle modifications, and medication usage to optimise health outcomes
- Monitor blood glucose levels and interpret results to inform treatment adjustments
- Collaborate with doctors, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals to develop and review care plans
- Maintain detailed and accurate patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations
- Provide emotional support and counselling to patients coping with chronic illness management
- Stay updated on the latest developments in diabetes care and incorporate evidence-based practices into daily work
Requirements
- Registered Nurse qualification with current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) or equivalent body
- Diabetes Specialist qualification
- Proven experience in patient care, preferably within endocrinology or chronic disease management
- Strong knowledge of human anatomy relevant to diabetes management and general health assessment
- Competency in medication administration, including insulin therapy and other diabetic medications
- Excellent communication skills to effectively educate and support patients of diverse backgrounds
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team
