We are looking for a talented and highly creative baker to join our busy, friendly café in the heart of Gildredge Park.
This is an important, hands-on role with real responsibility for producing an exciting and consistently excellent range of homemade cakes, traybakes, brownies, scones and seasonal treats. We want someone who genuinely loves baking, takes pride in presentation and is full of ideas for products that look amazing and keep customers coming back.
Alongside baking, you will be part of the wider café team and will help with general café duties whenever required. This could include food preparation, serving customers, keeping work areas clean and organised, washing up and supporting colleagues during busy periods.
Key responsibilities
- Producing a varied range of high-quality homemade cakes, traybakes and sweet treats
- Developing creative new products and seasonal specials
- Decorating and presenting cakes to an excellent standard
- Ensuring products are consistent in taste, appearance and portion size
- Planning the daily baking schedule and keeping the cake display well stocked
- Monitoring ingredients, stock levels, freshness and wastage
- Following recipes, allergen procedures and food-safety standards
- Maintaining a clean, organised and efficient baking area
- Assisting with general food preparation and café duties
- Supporting the wider team during busy service periods
About you
You will be:
- A confident and experienced baker, ideally with professional café, bakery or kitchen experience
- Genuinely creative, with a flair for flavours, decoration and presentation
- Able to produce consistently excellent results
- Organised and capable of managing your own baking workload
- Reliable, energetic and comfortable working in a busy environment
- Happy to contribute ideas and take responsibility for developing our cake range
- A positive team member who is willing to help throughout the café
- Knowledgeable about food hygiene and allergens
Professional baking experience is strongly preferred. We would love applicants to include photographs or examples of cakes and other products they have made.
We can consider either part-time or full-time hours for the right person. Some weekend availability will be required.
