Overview
We are looking for an energetic, reliable and passionate Dance Teacher to join our team and lead fun, engaging weekly classes for children and young people.
The right person will be confident leading a class independently, creating a positive and encouraging environment where dancers can develop their technique, creativity and confidence while, most importantly, enjoying their classes.
We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with children, brings great energy to their teaching and can build a good rapport with dancers of different ages and abilities. We are looking to take on someone long term who is excited to grow alongside their students and become a consistent part of their dance journey.
About the role
This role would suit someone who is happy to initially start with 1-2 days a week, with the view to taking on more days as time goes on.
Classes are held within school term weeks, after school hours.
Pay rate starts at £25ph, with an increased rate for large classes.
Duties
- Plan and deliver engaging, age appropriate dance classes for a range of ages and abilities
- Teach strong technique while keeping classes creative, energetic and enjoyable
- Create choreography and performance routines suitable for each groups age and ability
- Encourage confidence, creativity, teamwork and individual development
- Adapt teaching and choreography to support different abilities within the same class
- Manage classes confidently and positively, maintaining clear expectations and a supportive atmosphere
- Provide encouragement and constructive feedback to help dancers progress
- Prepare students for performances, competitions and other opportunities where required
- Communicate professionally and positively with parents, guardians and other members of the team
Experience & Skills
- Previous experience teaching dance is essential
- A strong background in the following styles; Street, Hip-Hop, Commercial, Lyrical and Contemporary is required, as these make up the majority of our classes
- Experience in additional dance styles would be a bonus
- Confident creating age appropriate choreography
- Ability to lead and manage a class safely and independently
- Friendly, enthusiastic and approachable, with excellent communication skills
- Reliable, organised and professional
- Able to adapt your teaching style to suit different ages, abilities and personalities
Other requirements
- Driving license & own car to be able to access various class locations in East & West Sussex
- Hold a recognised dance teaching qualification
- DBS checked & first aid trained
We are looking for someone who will become a valued part of our teaching team on a long term basis, and create classes that dancers genuinely look forward to each week.
Pay: From £25.00 per hour
