The Opportunity:
We are currently looking to recruit an Assistant Restaurant Manager for our Award-Winning Trenchers Restaurant. Trenchers is nationally renowned as a quality Fish and Seafood Restaurant. The first outlet has been open for over 40 years in Whitby and three years ago Trenchers opened it’s second restaurant in Spanish City.
In 2020 Trenchers, Spanish City was awarded the NFFF Fish and Chip Restaurant of the Year award which is like the Oscars of fish and chips in the UK. We only got there with consistently high standards and a high-quality food offering.
Trenchers, Spanish City is a 160-cover restaurant situated directly under the Famous Spanish City Dome. Our Assistant manager has recently left for a new opportunity. We are now looking for a replacement assistant manager who can work with the Restaurant manager to continue this good work and develop Trenchers further.
Role and Responsibilities:
In addition to the 160-cover restaurant, the chosen candidate will support the Restaurant manager to help oversee the Trenchers Takeaway operation which is operated from a separate unit off the main promenade. Trenchers can be a very fast paced restaurant.
You will ensure that all areas of the Trenchers operation are correctly staffed at all times in line with departmental wage budgets, taking direction from the Restaurant Manager. Understanding the peak and off-peak times of the restaurant is the key to success in this area.
We also operate a ‘click and collect’ and JustEat service which are becoming increasingly popular. The assistant manager should with their team, ensure that we are operating each of these effectively during our opening hours.
This is a hands on position and you will spend 95% of your time on the restaurant floor, ensuring standards are delivered and the customer experience is the best it can be. You will report directly to Trenchers Restaurant Manager.
You will assist the Restaurant Manager with staff training, recruitment and motivation. You are required to ensure that all health and safety guidelines are followed at all times and should be comfortable dealing with dietary handling in a safe manner.
All the staff at Spanish City are a big team. There will be times where staff from other parts of the business will support Trenchers and this arrangement, from time to time will need to be reciprocated with Trenchers Staff. We all help each other when required.
Remuneration:
In addition to an hourly rate of pay you will also receive a share of the staff tips, heavily discounted food whilst on duty and other discounts when dining at Spanish City with friends and family. PLEASE NOTE: the rate of pay advertised includes any increase caused by the new national minimum wage taking effect from April.
Previous Experience:
This is not an entry level position. We are looking for a candidate who has at least 1 year experience as an assistant manager / restaurant manager in a similar size and quality of restaurant.
