Canada Hill Primary School is a happy, inclusive and forward-thinking school where children feel valued, safe and inspired to learn. We are seeking a caring, committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our Early Years team.
SEN Teaching Assistant Role 1 32.5 hours a week- 8:30am – 12:30pm/1-3:30pm, Monday - Friday
Salary – Grade B
Start- September 2026
The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and SENDCO to support the child’s learning, emotional regulation and daily care needs within the school environment.
The role will include:
· Supporting communication and interaction throughout the school day
· Building positive, trusting relationships with the pupil, parents and other adults/children in the class
· Supporting the child with emotional regulation and co-regulation when needed
· Delivering personalised support strategies and sensory approaches
· Assisting with play, learning and social development
· Providing intimate care, including nappy changing and personal hygiene support, in line with the school’s policies and training
· Working collaboratively with parents, staff and external professionals
We are looking for someone who:
· Is nurturing, calm and emotionally resilient
· Has experience working with young children with additional needs (desirable)
· Understands or is willing to learn about communication and interaction differences, including autism and sensory needs
· Can respond sensitively to children experiencing big emotions
· Is confident providing intimate care with dignity and respect
· Has excellent teamwork and communication skills
· Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Experience in Early Years, SEND support or care work would be advantageous.
