About Spark2Life
Spark2Life is a community-inspired charity working across London, Kent and Buckinghamshire to Prevent Harm & Promote Life. We support young people and families affected by violence, criminal exploitation and offending through mentoring, casework, advocacy, counselling and community-based programmes.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced Finance Manager to lead and develop our finance function. You will provide strong financial leadership and strategic advice to the Executive Team, ensuring effective financial management, reporting, governance and compliance.
You will oversee financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, management accounts, cash flow, audits and statutory reporting, while developing systems and processes to support Spark2Life’s continued growth. Experience within the charity sector is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the organisation’s finance function.
- Prepare monthly management accounts, financial reports, budgets and forecasts.
- Manage cash flow, reserves and financial performance.
- Oversee annual audits and statutory financial reporting.
- Ensure compliance with Charity Commission, Companies House and Charities SORP (FRS 102) requirements.
- Manage restricted and unrestricted funding and reporting to funders.
- Develop financial models and forecasts.
- Oversee month-end reconciliations across entities.
- Provide financial advice and support to the Executive Team and Board.
- Identify financial risks and support strategic decision-making.
- Develop and improve financial systems, processes and controls.
About You
You will have:
- Significant experience working in the charity sector.
- Strong experience preparing management accounts, budgets and forecasts.
- Experience with charity accounts, restricted/unrestricted funding and funder reporting.
- Experience managing external audits and preparing financial statements under Charities SORP (FRS 102).
- Strong Excel and financial modelling skills.
- Experience using QuickBooks and Google Sheets.
- Knowledge of UK tax, VAT, payroll and Gift Aid.
- Excellent numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven experience in a finance management/leadership role.
- A UK professional finance qualification, or be working towards one (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, AAT or equivalent).
