Yardsman – Full-Time

Salary: £26,500–£30,000 per year, depending on experience
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30am–4:00pm

Surrey Steels is a busy and growing steel fabrication business. We are looking for a reliable, hardworking and practical Yardsman to support our yard and production teams.
This is a hands-on role in a fast-moving environment. The successful candidate must be prepared to work outdoors, carry out physically demanding duties and contribute wherever support is needed.
Main responsibilities:
- Receiving, checking and safely storing steel deliveries
- Loading and unloading vehicles
- Moving and organising steel and materials around the yard
- Preparing orders and materials for production and delivery
- Maintaining a clean, safe and well-organised working environment
- Assisting the saw, fabrication, welding and transport teams
- Carrying out general yard duties as directed
- Following all company health and safety procedures
- Wearing the required PPE at all times
- Reporting damaged materials, shortages or safety concerns promptly

Previous experience in a steel yard, builders’ merchant, warehouse, manufacturing or construction environment would be beneficial but is not essential.
A forklift licence, overhead crane experience or previous steel-handling experience would be an advantage. Relevant training may be provided for the right candidate.
